through His Word
Colossians Ch. 3 Center your walk on pleasing and serving Christ with these six practices.
v.1-4 Set your mind on things above, where Christ is, not on things on the earth.
v.5-9 Put off the old man with his deeds and attitudes.
v.10-14 Put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Christ.
v.15-17 Follow the counsel of three personal guides: God’s peace, Christ’s word, and Jesus’ name.
v.18-22 Submit to authority with sincerity, and exercise authority as it pleases God.
v.23-25 Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, for you serve the Lord Christ.
Application—Put Off and Put On:
v.5 Put off fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil desires, and covetousness.
v.8-9 Put off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language, and lying.
v.12-13 Put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another.
v.14 Above all these things, put on love.
v.5, 9-10 Why? Because these Godly qualities displace and overrule our unGodly qualities.
