through His Word
Happy Independence Day, 2014! In honor of our troops, I want to share this passage of Scripture...
Dubbed the "Soldier's Psalm" by Stephen Mansfield in his book, American Heroes:
"Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle––my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me." Psalm 144:1-2, NKJV
I'm praying for our brave military and their protection on this Independence Day! I can name a few friends here and overseas that I'm praying for specifically.
Also, my heart is celebrating the Christian heritage of this nation and praying for its well-being, both spiritual and political. With all the turmoil happening in other nations and on other continents, I am grateful for a country that has the freedom to worship God freely, among other freedoms. I am grateful that we have so many resources. Even though the news shows many heartbreaking things going on, there are still people who have compassion for each other and reach out to help others. I am praying that we are a country that takes care of its own (especially our soldiers coming home) and is a blessing around the world. As American believers, may we partner with believers of all countries to make an eternal difference in the world.
So from my corner of the USA, I say thank You to God for all He has done here, and I pray for His help, guidance, and power for America to be a nation whose God is the LORD. May God bless America, our home!
