through His Word
by Katy Kauffman
Next week is an exciting week. We release a double issue of Refresh and launch our new Bible study compilation, Heart Renovation. I hope you consider joining us for the book release party on Facebook! The blog post I wanted to share with you (last week, actually) is not quite ready yet, but it will be a good one. So I would like to share with you a poem I wrote at the beginning of last year. See if it resonates with your own soul, and share your thoughts in the comments below. God bless you this week.
Quiet fills the room where I sit and work and pray.
The world stands still, but I’m at a loss for what to say.
I know many hurt, God; they need someone like You.
Help them to hold on to what is good, lovely, and true.
I think about Your heart, Your love, Your plan, Your ways.
How You’re always with us in good and not so good days.
You see what we can’t—victory springing to life.
The peace that arrives when we let go of inner strife.
Faith, trust, dependence—You call us to these graces.
Then love, joy, and patience fill our heart’s empty spaces.
The source is You and all Your care, wisdom, power.
When fear and doubt haunt us, we run to our strong tower.
In my soul, a light shines, too wonderful for words.
A light that survives each storm and each mighty downpour.
The light lives because of its goodness, strength, and truth.
The light guides my way and keeps me warm, for it is You.
