Thunder in the Heavens

The LORD still thunders today.

The LORD thundered from heaven,
 And the Most High uttered His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire.
He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe,
Lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them.
Then the channels of the sea were seen,
The foundations of the world were uncovered
At Your rebuke, O LORD,
At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.
He sent from above, He took me;
He drew me out of many waters.
He delivered me from my strong enemy,
From those who hated me,
For they were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
But the LORD was my support.
He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.
(Psalm 18:13-19 NKJV)

Have you ever heard God thunder? Have you ever seen Him rescue you out of a desperate situation? From visible or invisible enemies?

I have. And each time He does, my faith in Him becomes stronger and my zeal for Him grows brighter. He loves to rescue. He delights in helping His children. He is an awe-inspiring, heavenly Father who cares about each concern and burden we have, and He moves heaven and earth to help us. Do we ask Him to help? Do we trust Him enough to seek His face?

When the trials of life overwhelm you and the waters rise above your head, cry out to your heavenly Father who has perfect power to rescue. He can either rescue you from difficult circumstances or give you the grace to go through them. And if He allows you to go through them, He has a grand purpose in mind that will work good into your life (Romans 8:28) and, most likely, the lives of those around you. He is with us in every trial of life and every struggle.

I love it that God is a formidable Daddy. Every day, consider His matchless love and supreme power. Run to Him. Spiritually crawl into His lap and let Him hold you. Draw comfort and strength by spending time with Him, and then burst forward into life with your heart full of His love to give out to others. Our God fights for us, and we have the privilege of fighting the good fight for Him.

    The Old Testament has opened my eyes to hear God in the thunder and to listen for the swish of His presence on the wings of the wind. I love those visuals. We serve a mighty God!

    It's interesting how many times in the Bible storms are a sign of God's appearing. He is present in the storm, and he's powerful enough to keep us safe.

    Hmm, that is interesting. In His love for us, He descends from the heavens to rescue us! Our spiritual enemies better watch out.
