1 John Ch. 5  Believing in Jesus and being “in Him,” is having eternal life.

v.1-3  Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God, loves God, and loves God’s children.

v.4-5  He who believes that Jesus is the Son of God is not ruled by worldly values and passions, but by faith.

v.6-10 Sufficient witness is given that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that we should believe it.

(Some of the witnesses are: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Jesus’s baptism and the surrounding events, and Jesus’s death on the cross and the surrounding events.) ...

Chapter 4  The evidence of a person’s true abiding place is:
1) his confession of Christ, and           (v.1-3, 14-15)
2) his love for others.                             (v.7-8, 9-12, 13, 16-18, 19-21)

v.1-3   Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, is of God.

v.4-6   God enables His children to discern truth from error and reject error, but those of the world reject the truth. ...

1 John Ch. 3 Choose your abiding place:

abiding in God, in love, and in righteousness brings life and assurance;

abiding in sin, in the world, and in the devil brings death.

v.1      Because of His love for us, God has called us to an identity and reality in Him that the world doesn’t understand or value—being His children.

v.2-3   As a child of God, aspire to have purity like your Father’s, and do your part of realizing it.

v.4-6  Choose to abide in Jesus in whom there is no sin, because to the extent that you
