The Girl with Hazel Eyes – A Guest Post by Beckie Lindsey

Katy here. Today I have the privilege of sharing with you an award-winning poem and the story behind it. Can you relate to the poem below? May your heart be blessed and your dreams renewed.

The Girl with Hazel Eyes

by Beckie Lindsey

Where has she gone? That young girl from so long ago.
The memory eludes me like a cloud covering over the sun.
She had dark hair and large hazel eyes.
Those eyes that saw the world as an adventure to be had.
A world that is exciting yet dangerously uncertain,
But — with courage — could be contained.

The Transformational Power of Scripture Memorization

A Guest Post by Beckie Lindsey

Katy here. I have the pleasure of introducing you to a writer friend whom I met last year at a conference. Beckie Lindsey loves God’s Word, and I’ve asked her to write about hiding Scripture in our hearts by memorizing it. Here are some practical tips, and I hope you’ll check out Beckie’s blog for more insightful posts.

“Memorizing Scripture is easy!” said no one.

I wish I could tell you there’s a special technique that makes memorizing Scripture easy peasy. But there isn’t (at least that I know of!). Nope. It takes good old fashioned discipline. However, I can tell you it’s so worth all of the effort. Allow me to share how I began memorizing Scripture and how it has transformed my relationship with God and others. You see, as we grow closer to God, the natural byproduct is loving others better. But first a disclaimer: I’m still growing in this. I’m not one of those people who can recite entire chapters of the Bible. Not yet, anyway.
