Hebrews Ch. 6  Go past first things, on to “perfection” (exactly what God wants).

v.1-6  Don’t lay down, again and again, the foundation of truth, as if it were possible for some to fall away from believing the truth, and then to be restored.
v.7-8  Hearing and using the word is blessed by God, but receiving the word and still producing what is useless or harmful, is not.
v.9-12a  Show diligence in your work and labor of love, and don’t become sluggish.
v.12b-16  Imitate those who, through faith and patience, inherit the blessings that God has sworn to give them. ...

Resurrection from the Dead

1 Corinthians Ch. 15  Since Christ was raised from the dead, His followers will be also; so hold fast to your faith and abound in the work of the Lord.

Application: Physical death is not an end to life in Christ.

v.1-11  We preached, and you believed, that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

v.12-17  The doctrine of resurrection was proven when Christ was raised from the dead, but if He didn’t rise, our faith in His atoning death is in vain.

v.18-19  If there is no resurrection from the dead, then the believers who have already died, have perished.

1 Corinthians Ch. 1  Identify with Christ, and speak the wisdom and power of His gospel.

v.1-3  To the church which is being sanctified in Christ Jesus.
v.4-5  When people hear the gospel of Christ, accept it as true, and embrace it as their own, God enriches them with good things.
v.6-8  Those gifts confirm that they are true believers, and that they will stand blameless in Christ at the judgment.
v.9  The best thing that God gives us, and that He prepares us for, is fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ ...

“As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Col 2:6 NKJV).

Don’t walk in the ways of the world.
Walk in an interactive relationship with Jesus as He teaches you, leads you, loves you, fellowships with you, shares life with you, and helps you grow spiritually.
Walk in mindsets and heartfelt perspectives that originate with Him and are supplied to believers.
Walk in closeness to Him.
Walk in experiences that ...

Love Is the Greatest

It seems to me that some teachers and speakers in the church today, are trying to push love off to one side. They’re trying to get love to recede into the background and bring some other issue to center stage.

But love is a superstar. It belongs at the center stage of life. Love is why God sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins (John 3:16). Love is what God wants from us, and it’s how He wants us to relate to other people (Mark 12:30-31). Love is ...

1 John Ch. 5  Believing in Jesus and being “in Him,” is having eternal life.

v.1-3  Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God, loves God, and loves God’s children.

v.4-5  He who believes that Jesus is the Son of God is not ruled by worldly values and passions, but by faith.

v.6-10 Sufficient witness is given that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that we should believe it.

v.1-7  Remind believers to relate to one another according to the new person that they are in Christ:
v.1  Be subject to authorities in all things that don’t oppose God and His ways.

v.2  Speak evil of no one.
v.2  When others wrong you, be peaceable—not contentious or quarrelsome, and gentle—not aggressively defending yourself or your rights.

2 Timothy Ch. 2  Be entrusted with the truth, as a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful.

How?

v.1  Be strong in the grace that is Christ Jesus.

v.2  Commit what you know to faithful people who can teach others.

v.3  Endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ.

v.4  Engage in spiritual warfare in such a way that you please Christ.

v.5  Participate according to the rules.

v.6  Work hard to produce a good result.
