Door Post Verses

by Katy Kauffman

I wanted the eagle so badly I felt like crying. The gorgeous picture of an eagle descending through dark storm clouds—his wings in the shape of a v—made me think of God swooping down to rescue one of His children. I really wanted the picture for my room, but the frame and mat didn’t match my colors. My tender, preteen heart didn’t want to leave the eagle picture behind.

My mom told me that if God wanted me to have the picture, He would provide it with the perfect frame and mat. I reluctantly left the art store, and eventually the eagle shifted to the back of my mind. Then I found it. Hanging in a Christian bookstore, I discovered my eagle encased by a midnight blue marbled mat and fruitwood frame. Perfect. God provided not just the perfect picture but the perfect verse to go with it—a verse that has seen me through dark storms.

Bible

Psalms 119:162  I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.   (NKJV)

The Word of God:

shows us who God is and what He wants,
invites us into a personal relationship with God through faith in His Son,
reveals the truth and encourages us to adjust ourselves to it,
gives us understanding of spiritual realities and truth,
shows us how spiritual things work and why they work that way,
changes us on the inside,
influences us in “good,”
teaches us how to have healthy and satisfying relationships,
differentiates between right and wrong, ...

Your White Line

It was the worst fog I’d ever been in. A few nights ago, a lazy cloud settled on the earth, making driving nearly impossible. Visibility was fifteen feet at best, and our car’s high beams only revealed more fog. So slowly our family traveled home, with the car staying close to the only visible sign of direction—the road’s solid white line. Even the double yellow line in the middle of the road was engulfed by fog and the glare of oncoming traffic. What kept us sane and moving forward—that security-giving, nerve-calming white line.
