In John Ch. 7, Jesus’ brothers did not believe in Him, the Jews wanted to kill Him, and the people were divided on whether He was a good Man or a deceiver. But some of the people considered Jesus’ words and the signs that He did, and wondered whether He was the Christ.

v.14-18  If anyone wants to do God’s will,  he will know if Jesus’ doctrine is God’s.

Have you ever thought of yourself as an ambassador of God’s kingdom, or as an emissary of Christ’s love? In the book of 2 Corinthians, Paul encourages the church to live as ambassadors of Christ, and Chapter 5 has some excellent reasons why we should.

2 Corinthians Ch. 5  Live no longer for yourself, but for Him who died for you.

v.1-4  Physical death is not the end of life—one day our earthly bodies will be exchanged for heavenly ones.

v.5-8  Once we are absent from the body, we will be present with the Lord.

v.9-10  So aim to please Christ while you are here, because we will all receive from Him according to what we have done in the body, good or bad.

God’s Enriching Work vs. Sin’s Damaging Work

God works today in the hearts and minds of His children to conform our whole way of thinking, feeling, and acting to be consistent with His love, His character, and His purposes for our lives. He is working to enrich the quality of our souls, our lives, and our influence.

Our choices and decisions help or hinder that process. Certain mindsets and practices are called “sin” in the Bible because they work against loving and respecting God and people. They oppose the good practices that build healthy and satisfying relationships. They waste our time and energy. They hinder healthy relationships, and ultimately they leave our hearts dissatisfied.

So God gives us ...
