Lists – 4 Reasons Why the Resurrection Was Necessary
Why was the resurrection of Jesus necessary?
- To confirm that God the Father accepted Jesus’ sacrifice—His atoning death on the cross—as full payment for the sins of mankind (Romans 5:1, 1 Peter 1:3-5)
- So that Jesus could continue His ministry to believers (Hebrews 7:25, 8:6; 1 John 2:1-2; Mark 16:20)
- To give assurance that believers who die, will be raised to life, as Jesus was (Rom 6:5)
- To powerfully picture the new life believers are enabled to live, free from the rule of sin (Rom 6:4, 11, 19)
This is the message that we bear to the world, we sing in praise, and we shout from the housetops—Jesus is risen!
