Sound Doctrine and Sound Faith Yield a Sound Life

How can we develop sound lives according to God’s design? The book of Titus teaches us that “the true reflection of sound doctrine and sound faith, will be a sound life.”¹ Titus Chapter 2 shows us what a sound life looks like for specific people in the body of Christ. Here’s how we can live out God’s word.

Titus Ch. 2  Teach the people to live consistently with sound doctrine.

v.1-3 Teach older men and women to be self-controlled, respectable, spiritually healthy, and a good reflection of Christianity.

v.4-5 Let the older women disciple young wives to love their families, to care for their homes, and to be sensible, modest, good, and submitted to their own husbands.

v.6 Exhort the young men to be humble and self-controlled.

v.7-8 As a teacher, live what you teach and be a pattern of good works.

v.9-10 Exhort servants to honor God’s doctrine in the way that they live and work.

v.11-12 The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that we should deny worldly lusts and influences, and live according to the grace that God supplies to believers—we should govern our passions, do what is right and loving to those around us, and be conformed to God’s likeness and His will.

v.13-14 Christ died to redeem us from every lawless deed and to purify for Himself a people who are zealous for good works.

v.15 With all authority, teach these things, repeat them, urge the practice of them, and be above reproach as you do it.
