The Joy of Humility & Teamwork: A Prayer Based on Philippians 2

Philippians Chapter 2 shines with a theme of oneness, humility, and partnering with God and others to make a difference in the world. May God help us to work with other believers in Christ with hearts that are humble, compassionate, and steadfast.

Dear Father,

Thank You for the “pockets” of Your spiritual family that live near me and around the world. Help us to give You joy by being like-minded in Christ, having the same love and being of one accord (v.1-2).

Help us to trade any selfish ambitions for being committed to Your purposes for our lives and looking out for each other (v.3-4).

Grow within us the desire and ability to be faithful to You at all costs, like Jesus was and is (v.5-11). Help us to practice humility at all times, knowing who You are (great) and who we are (needing You) and what people need (the gospel and Your word). 

Help us to work out what You work within us (v.12-13), so we can shine as lights and draw people to You (v.15).

When a friend grows weary in doing good, help us to know it and be there for them. Help us to serve You together and seek You and not selfish pursuits (v.19-22).

Please sustain us in the work of Christ, so that each of us is a faithful member of the team, doing our part.

Thank You for making us a part of Your mission to save the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
