Be calm and be faithful.

In light of last Friday’s Supreme Court decision, I am re-posting the following application for 2 Timothy Ch. 2.

Be entrusted with the truth, as a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful.

v.1  Be strong in the grace that is Christ Jesus.

v.2  Commit what you know to faithful people who can teach others.

v.3  Endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ.

v.4  Engage in spiritual warfare in such a way that you please Christ.

v.5  Participate according to the rules.

v.6  Work hard to produce a good result.

v.8-10  Endure trouble for the sake of the worth of the gospel message and of those who hear it.

v.11-14a  Remind people to look past trouble now, to life with Christ.

v.14b  Don’t strive about words to the ruin of the hearers.

v.15  Be diligent to rightly understand and share the word of truth.

v.16-18  Shun useless or senseless arguments because they generate ungodliness, spread like cancer, and cause some to go astray.

v.19  Depart from iniquity.

v.20-21  Cleanse yourself from dishonor, and be a sanctified and useful vessel for Christ, prepared for every good work.

v.22  Flee youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, love, and peace.

v.23  Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes because they generate strife.

v.24  When you are correcting error, don’t quarrel with people, but be gentle, patient, and humble with the hope that they may turn from error, believe the truth, and escape the snare of the devil to do his will.
