Matthew Ch. 18  Aspire to be great in the kingdom of heaven.

v.1-4      Humble yourself as a little child before God, because humility is greatly valued in the kingdom of heaven.
v.5-10    Guard against causing others to sin, and guard yourself against sin.
v.11-14  Care about what Jesus cares about—seeking those who are going astray.
v.15-17  Seek reconciliation with a brother or sister who has wronged you, but distance yourself if he or she refuses to acknowledge the wrong. ...

The surprise. Several years ago, my husband had a business conference in Florida that began on his birthday, so Katy and I went with him. We had reserved a room with two queen beds, but when we arrived at the hotel they told us the standard rooms were overbooked. The hotel gave us a free upgrade—all the way to the penthouse.

The room. The penthouse had floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the beach. The living room furnishings were lovely and inviting, like a home away from home. Build the House of God

In Ezra Ch. 6, the “house of God” (v.3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 16, 17, 22) was the temple, and it needed to be rebuilt because the Babylonians had destroyed it. Today the house of God is the church. Believers are its “living stones” (1 Peter 2:5 NKJV), and we “are being built together for a dwelling place of God” (Ephesians 2:22 NKJV).

Let’s apply the principles of this chapter to Christian authority in the church and to the building and completing of God’s “house” in present times. What should Godly authorities be doing in the church?
