God is pleased when we are trustworthy, even when the circumstances in our lives fight against it. We have our Father’s favor when we stand firm in what we believe, when we take the pains to finish what He has given us to do, and when we serve Him honorably. When we listen to God, obey Him in adverse circumstances, yield to His wisdom and direction, and comply with His will for our lives and ministries—as the root word 3982 indicates—these good things make us not only God’s faithful servant, but also His friend.

The Friend of God

The Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. (James 2:23 NKJV)

The LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. (Exodus 33:11 KJV)

Jesus said to His disciples, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (John 15:14 NKJV).
