through His Word
by Katy Kauffman
Autumn inspires the artist with a warm palette—a captivating array of oranges, reds, and browns. With splashes of yellow and purple.
With our brushes, pens, and cameras, we capture trees that make an appearance just once a year. With our stamps and markers, we send Thanksgiving cards to loved ones, and with our hearts and Bibles, we jot down thoughts of gratitude and peace.
Every autumn, God paints His landscape for us to admire. But that’s not the only thing He paints. With a masterful eye and a gentle touch, He paints the picture of our lives, adding layer to layer each year.
He paints scenes of hope in the midst of despair, of people helping each other. He paints bright spots of healing in our brokenness. He illustrates His goodness in innumerable ways, providing for our needs and giving understanding and direction. And perhaps His favorite? He paints demonstrations of love, genuine acts of kindness and compassion done by Himself and others.
Can you see His handiwork? The beauty He is painting into our lives? Do we contribute to the beauty He is painting in the lives of those around us?
This Thanksgiving, let’s look with spiritual eyes at the canvas of our lives and see what God is painting. And let’s thank Him for His constant care and work.
What are you the most thankful for this year? Comment with your top three favorites, and Happy Thanksgiving!
"Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
and for His wonderful works to the children of men."
Psalm 107:31 NKJV
I started a Facebook page for artsy people! It’s called My Artsy Tribe, and I even made a private group so artsy souls can chat and share their artwork.
Check out this devotion on Facebook so you can see some autumn artwork by one of our very own writers, Jennifer DeFrates. If you love painting, drawing, card-making, Scripture journaling, or photography, visit My Artsy Tribe now, and join this group!
