through His Word
by Katy Kauffman
I look at the world and wonder why
So many hurting, so many die.
My heart grieves and trembles with fear.
I hear a whisper say, “I am here.”
I turn on the news, more stories run
Of struggle and conflict—they’re never done.
I wonder who’ll stop this, who is near?
A Hope on the wind speaks, “I am here.”
I read about a Baby born one night.
The angels came with their brilliant light.
That’s when Hope was born, so sweet and dear.
That’s when Christ came to earth—Love was here.
He grew and taught and healed the sick.
Twelve men He found, He carefully picked.
Heart of the Father ever so clear.
Messiah, the I AM, has come near.
Some mocked Him and refused to believe.
They tried Him and hanged Him on a tree.
The soldiers pierced His side with a spear.
Resurrection will come—He’ll be here.
The third day came with dawn’s faithful light.
God’s Son arose with glorious might.
Death couldn’t hold Him; the angels cheered.
Alive again, the Victor appeared!
In this dark world, on this shifting sand,
I find peace in Him who took a stand.
Against all evil He fought for us.
In Jesus Christ, risen King, I trust.
So when fear grips me and I need peace,
I turn to the Lord; my strivings cease.
He will guide me and always stay near.
I will boldly declare—God is here!
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NKJV)
