Stress Relievers: Focusing on the Goal

Focusing only on the goal, the “destination,” of what I’m working on, makes me impatient. I realized that the goal isn’t the only important thing. The process of reaching the goal is also important. Every day ...

Stress Relievers

"Stress" is the word that will be written across the year 2013 in my memory. It began when my mom passed away in January. Then we had to do some work on her house to get it ready to sell. We had a few bumps along the way as we were trying to find contractors. A few weeks later, we started a new business, and not many of the scores of details were accomplished easily. We had learning curves, roadblocks, time delays, and a few "you-can't-do-this-before-you-do-that" detours. As the year rolled along, a few surprises were mixed in. I was getting overwhelmed.

These songs are a part of my musical “arsenal,” that I use to fight back thoughts of worry and feelings of depression. They remind me that God is great, I can trust Him, and He has a plan.

What about Scripture? Do you have a Scriptural arsenal that you use to defeat negative thoughts that Satan shoots through your mind? When fear threatens to stop you in your tracks, when doubts cause you to worry, when Satan tempts you to give up, what Scriptures do you run to?

I run to 2 Timothy. ...
