The “Together” Mindset
Division, dissension, in-fighting, and jealousies. We see it in social media, in local and world news, and in our daily lives.
Philippians Chapter 2 gives us the encouragement we need to make a radical change in the world around us. It tells us how to turn the tables, so that together, “with,” and oneness become our daily reality.
Please read this chapter in your Bible and then the application below. In the comments, tell us which of the five statements might be the most powerful way to turn divisions into “together.”
Philippians Ch. 2 Be committed to oneness, be rich in humility, and be active in selflessness.
v.1-4 Be committed to oneness with other believers.
v.5-11 Be emptied of self and selfish pursuits that hinder God’s work.
v.12-18 Be a vessel for God to work in and through: shine as lights in a dark world.
v.19-23 Live selflessly: sincerely care for one another, and seek the things of Christ.
v.24-30 Esteem fellow workers, and receive them with all gladness.

How to choose only one? But I would say verses 19-23 state a way to turn divisions into togetherness. As John said, “He must increase, I must decrease.”

That’s a good one, Barbara. To live selflessly means that we want Jesus to be in the center spotlight. His words, His love, His work. He shines through us, but it’s Him we want people to see the most. A group that all wants Jesus to be at the center–that’s a selfless group! ~Katy
